Leadership transition

Ortega Zeller outlined the new board's vision and challenges during his opening address to staff, supporters and community members.

Sister Juana Emilia Ureña praised the outgoing board's work and told the new executives they were beginning a new stage of service. She said they should work as a team, listen to one another, and view their responsibilities as a mission of service rather than a job title.

She added that their work should be inspired by the spirit of Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Louise de Marillac, who taught that true greatness lies in serving with humility, love and dedication.

Special recognition

The protective society said Cueto's selfless support had been a pillar for the institution's growth, allowing it to care for and protect older adults with love, respect and dignity. The society described him as having exceptional human sensitivity and said his trajectory showed how one person's dedication could leave a significant mark on the lives of those most in need of protection.

The outgoing board, which served from 2022 to 2026, was led by President Fernando José Ortega Brugal. It also included Secretary Karla Brugal de Almonte, Treasurer Liza María Brugal De León and Board Member Dr. Segundo Rafael Santana.
