Ana Claudia Urbina, the Peruvian cumbia singer and twin sister of Ana Lucía Urbina, has left the orchestra Son del Duke after eight months and signed with rival group Amor Rebelde, led by Paola Rubio.
Urbina announced her exit from Son del Duke on September 6. She did not state the exact reason for leaving, but suggested that certain rules within the group left her without enough time to spend with her son, whom she described as her priority.
She said that she wanted to announce that, for personal reasons, she had decided to close this chapter and stop being part of Son del Duke. She added that it had been one of the best stages of her professional life, and that she remained deeply grateful for the experiences, the lessons learned, and the affection and respect shared during her time with the group.
Joining December 2025 to Departure
Urbina had joined Son del Duke in December 2025, going on to spend eight months with the orchestra before her exit this month. She is the twin sister of Ana Lucía Urbina, and the pair are known figures in Peru's cumbia scene.
A week after her announcement, it emerged which group she would join next. Notably, there are currently two orchestras operating under the name Amor Rebelde, and both claim to be the original.
Welcome From Amor Rebelde
On Wednesday, September 9, the Amor Rebelde led by Paola Rubio welcomed Urbina in a message posted on social media. The group said it was giving her a warm welcome to the Amor Rebelde family and that it was confident her talent, charisma and passion would become part of the group's story. It added that it hoped this would be the start of many successes, big stages and unforgettable moments. The orchestra promotes itself with the phrase "One feeling, one heart."
New Talent Joins the Lineup
Alongside Urbina's arrival, Amor Rebelde used social media to introduce other young performers joining the group, including Leandro Álvarez and Mackley Luján, among others. Many of the new members are not widely known and have not previously performed with major orchestras.
The announcement drew a wave of support from fans, who praised Paola Rubio for giving opportunities to new talent. Followers wrote that giving young performers a chance was the best move a group could make, that they would keep supporting the orchestra wherever Rubio led it, and that they were excited about the renewed lineup and the fresh voices joining Amor Rebelde. Others simply welcomed the newcomers and wished them success.
