Peruvian salsa singer Yahaira Plasencia has spoken publicly about a difficult family health situation after her mother, Gloria Quintanilla, was photographed at a specialized oncology center.
The image was shared by Plasencia's brother, Yorch Plasencia, and quickly raised questions among fans about Quintanilla's health. The family has not publicly confirmed a diagnosis or given details about any treatment.
Singer describes uncertainty
Plasencia, known for the song 'El exmachito,' did not reveal her mother's diagnosis, but said the last few months have been marked by uncertainty. She said facing an illness within a family is a difficult process for everyone involved, adding that the worry extends beyond the person receiving medical care to relatives who wait anxiously for news of their loved one's progress.

The singer, who is currently in a relationship with Luis Fernando, said prayer holds an important place in what her family is going through. She said God's power is immense and that prayer has power, but that much also depends on how people treat the loved one going through that difficult process.
Faith and admiration
Plasencia said she admires everyone who goes through this kind of situation, including those who do not make it, because she knows how terrible that is. She said she has lived through it, is still living through it, and that it is very painful and complicated, but that when someone has faith, she is certain God listens and does not let go of their hand.
Plasencia stressed that accompanying and supporting a sick loved one is one of the most important ways to help someone facing a delicate health situation.
