Peruvian model and television presenter Xiomy Kanashiro has shared her views on the 50/50 relationship expense debate amid her romance with wealthy former international footballer Jefferson Farfan.
Speaking on the morning television show America Hoy, where she works as a regular presenter, Kanashiro stated that she continues to pay for her own expenses independently without needing financial reliance on anyone.
The presenter, also known by the nickname Chinita, noted that financial support from a partner can be welcome depending on the specific situation of a relationship, explaining that if support is offered it should be received, but if not, individuals must continue moving forward.
The discussion around equal financial division in relationships became a prominent topic across Peruvian show business following the public separation of Venezuelan model Korina Rivadeneira and former rally driver Mario Hart.
Rivadeneira stated that she and Hart split shared living costs equally in 50/50 portions during their time together, adding that she also covered her share of expenses during her pregnancy, which generated divided reactions across national entertainment media.
Rivadeneira, a Venezuelan actress and model based in Peru, and Hart, a former professional race car driver turned television personality, were previously one of the most widely followed celebrity couples in Peruvian media.
Financial independence and relationship dynamics
Farfan is a former professional footballer and successful entrepreneur who represented the Peru national team over an international career spanning more than 100 appearances. He played as a forward for major European clubs, including PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Schalke 04 in Germany, and helped Peru qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia before retiring from professional sport to pursue business ventures.
Kanashiro and the former national team star reached a milestone in their relationship in August 2026, when the couple celebrated 18 months together.
