Xiaomi has started open sales of its new Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition home security camera in China for 799 yuan ($120). The device was previously available only to crowdfunding campaign participants.

The home camera features two separate camera modules equipped with F/1.6 aperture optics that record in 4K resolution. The primary camera uses a 12-megapixel sensor paired with a telephoto lens, while the secondary camera relies on an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Together, they provide a 3x optical zoom and up to 12x hybrid zoom. It also includes autofocus and full-color night vision supported by ten infrared LEDs.
Mounting the device on a dual-axis pan-and-tilt platform allows it to rotate 360 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically. Xiaomi said the motor mechanism operates roughly 30 percent faster than the Smart Camera C700, enabling more effective tracking of moving objects.
Artificial Intelligence Monitoring
The unit incorporates an AI Care artificial intelligence system designed to monitor children, elderly individuals, and pets. The system recognizes falls, extended periods of inactivity, unusual pet behavior, and the amount of time a child spends studying. It automatically generates daily reports and allows users to search recorded video archives using plain text queries.
A quad-core processor with 3 TOPS of performance powers the data processing. Xiaomi stated this provides approximately three times the computing power of the Smart Camera C700. Additional features include two-way voice communication with gesture control, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, microSD card support up to 256 GB, and a proprietary security chip.
