United States authorities have sold two tankers allegedly linked to Russia to metal recycling company GMS, according to news portal Lloyd's List.
The US government sold the confiscated vessels Era and Lileo to GMS, with both ships currently traveling to Alang for dismantling. Lloyd's List reported that the disposal process proved complicated, even after receiving all necessary permits and exemptions from the United States Department of the Treasury.
British Tanker Interception
In a separate action, the Armed Forces of Great Britain intercepted the oil tanker Smyrtos on June 14. Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer commented on the detention of the vessel, stating that it dealt another blow to Russia and thanking the kingdom's military and law enforcement personnel.
