Ukrainian pensioners to receive age supplements in 2026

Ukrainian pensioners aged 70 and older are receiving monthly age-based pension supplements of up to 570 hryvnias in 2026 as part of structured state support payouts.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine outlined that monthly age additions scale upwards across three distinct age tiers. Under the 2026 framework, senior citizens receive 300 hryvnias per month after turning 70, 456 hryvnias after reaching 75, and 570 hryvnias after reaching 80.

Each successive age tier incorporates the previous supplement amount rather than stacking on top of it. As a result, retirees turning 75 receive an actual net monthly increase of 156 hryvnias above their existing 300 hryvnia payment, while those turning 80 receive an additional 114 hryvnias beyond the 456 hryvnia tier.

The age-related increases provide financial adjustment in a system where overall retirement benefits vary widely. The average pension in Ukraine in 2026 stands at approximately 7,273 hryvnias per month, but almost one-quarter of Ukrainian pensioners receive monthly payouts of 4,000 hryvnias or less.

Eligibility thresholds and payment rules

A strict maximum earnings ceiling applies to all age-based pension additions. The Pension Fund confirmed that senior citizens whose total monthly pension reaches or exceeds 10,340.35 hryvnias are not eligible for the age supplement. For retirees earning close to the limit, the payout is capped so that their total combined pension does not cross 10,340.35 hryvnias. A pensioner currently receiving 10,200 hryvnias per month, for instance, receives an age top-up of no more than 140 hryvnias.

According to the Pension Fund, the monthly age additions are calculated automatically by state administration systems, eliminating the need for senior citizens to submit a separate application. However, individuals who do not receive their expected payments are advised to contact their nearest local Pension Fund office for assistance.

Payment calculations begin on the exact birth date of the recipient rather than at the start of the calendar month. If a pensioner celebrates a milestone birthday in the middle of a month, such as August 15, they receive approximately half of the monthly top-up amount for that initial month. The full monthly supplement allocation begins arriving in full the following month, starting in September.

Independence Day lump-sum payments

In addition to monthly age supplements, Ukraine is disbursing a separate one-time pension top-up ahead of August 24. These annual holiday payments, issued in connection with Ukraine's Independence Day, range between 450 hryvnias and 3,100 hryvnias depending on the specific beneficiary category.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine oversees the administration of social security distributions, managing retirement accounts, disability allowances, and state aid across all regions. Independence Day, commemorated annually on August 24, marks Ukraine's 1991 declaration of independence from the Soviet Union.
