Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs has approved a procedure for paying motivational bonuses to members of the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and special-purpose police units, extending a scheme previously available only to soldiers under the Defense Ministry. The announcement was made by new Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi.
The system, which takes effect from June 1, 2026, allows guard personnel, police officers, and border guards serving at the front to receive up to 460,000 hryvnias per month.
Vyhivskyi listed the payments. Servicemembers who take direct part in combat operations can receive up to 100,000 hryvnias per month, calculated proportionally to time served. Those performing tasks directly on the line of contact can receive 170,000 hryvnias per month, while personnel working in other front sectors within a company strongpoint are eligible for 70,000 hryvnias per month. Service at command posts carries a bonus of 50,000 hryvnias per month.
Instructor-servicemembers can receive between 15,000 and 30,000 hryvnias per month, and other categories of servicemembers are eligible for up to 10,000 hryvnias per month.
One-off daily bonuses are also included: 40,000 hryvnias for capturing enemy positions and 20,000 hryvnias for recapturing lost ones. Servicemembers receive 100,000 hryvnias for each enemy combatant taken prisoner and 15,000 hryvnias for killing an enemy in rifle or hand-to-hand combat.
The relevant orders are currently undergoing state registration and will be published and enter into force after that process is complete.
The broader payment system was established by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 768 of June 12, 2026. The ministry said the bonuses apply to all servicemembers regardless of their contract type, covering those who signed a new motivational contract, those serving under mobilisation, and those on older contracts.
Former Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said only 2,000 people had signed the new motivational contract since it was introduced in June 2026.
