Ukrainian defense forces destroyed a Russian Volna Kupol Garant electronic warfare complex located at military unit 2156 in Gelendzhik, Russia, according to open-source analyst Dnipro Osint.
The analyst, also known as Harbuz, published satellite images from August 7 showing the site, though he did not specify the exact date of the strike. He stated that the Volna Kupol Garant is a Russian electronic warfare system designed to suppress Starlink satellite communications by creating directional radio interference toward satellites, preventing them from receiving signals from ground terminals. He added that this is the third time the destruction of this complex has been recorded in open sources.
The strike targeted the military unit where Russian forces previously shot down a drone over a crowded beach. Earlier monitoring groups reported an explosion in Gelendzhik in Krasnodar Krai, stating that the direction of the blast pointed to the territory of military unit 2156 and an adjacent training ground used by the FSB border service.
Drone attacks on oil refineries
Separately, Ukrainian drones attacked major Russian oil refineries on the night of August 8, targeting the Syzran refinery in Samara Oblast and the Ilsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai. The Syzran refinery was struck for the second time in a week, with at least three hits recorded and eyewitness videos showing a fire breaking out on the facility's territory.
