President Donald Trump said he is demanding compensation from Iran for everyone the country has killed and wounded, responding after Iran demanded compensation for damage from five months of military conflict. Trump made the statement in a post on social media platform X.
Trump said compensation terms were not discussed during negotiations with Iranian representatives, but called it an interesting idea, since he was now also demanding compensation from Iran for all the people it had killed and severely wounded with its bombs and the many conflicts it is known for.
Victims Named
Trump listed people killed by Iranian weapons, including families aboard the American ship Cole, along with thousands of others killed in combat. He said Iran should also compensate the families of hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed in the country over the past 50 years.
Trump added that this was not to mention the 52,000 killed over the past five months, and said he had directed his representatives to clearly factor this into any future negotiations.
