Tigipko Advises Investors to Put Themselves First

Viktoriya Tigipko of TA Ventures says investing in yourself is the best advice, with $50,000 the benchmark for a diversified portfolio.

Tigipko Advises Investors to Put Themselves First

Viktoriya Tigipko, founder and managing partner of venture capital fund TA Ventures and the iClub business community, said the best advice she can give anyone starting to invest is to invest in themselves. She made the comment in an interview with the Ukrainian business outlet LIGA.net, conducted alongside Yuriy Kopyshynskyi, chief executive of the digital agency Webpromo.

In the interview, Tigipko explained why she recommends first putting money into one's own business rather than into other assets. She said that only once a person has built up meaningful savings does it make sense to think about assembling a diversified investment portfolio.

She named $50,000 in free, uncommitted cash as the benchmark at which people should start considering a more serious, structured approach to investing.

Views on real estate, crypto and crowdfunding

Tigipko also spoke about her skepticism toward property as an investment vehicle. She said she takes a cautious view of cryptocurrencies as well, and described crowdfunding platforms as a risky class of asset for investors to put money into.

Asked for a single piece of advice for people who want to start investing, she said: invest in yourself, calling it the best advice she could offer.

Who is Viktoriya Tigipko

Tigipko leads TA Ventures, a venture capital fund, and iClub, a business community, and is a well known figure in Ukraine's investment and startup circles. Webpromo, whose chief executive Kopyshynskyi took part in the interview, is a digital marketing agency.

New rules on the way for Ukrainian investors

In June 2026, Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, registered a bill that would introduce personal investment accounts for individuals who are residents of Ukraine.

Separately, figures for the start of summer showed that the volume of investments by individuals in domestic government bonds, known as OVDP, rose 56.4% compared with the same period a year earlier.
