Peruvian cumbia singer Thamara Gomez has confirmed her relationship with Valentin Lozada, an heir to the Piura-based orchestra Armonia 10, following weeks of romance rumors sparked by a vacation photograph taken in Punta Sal.
Gomez, a vocalist for Las Estrellas de la Cumbia, had initially attempted to keep the relationship secret. However, fans identified Lozada from a distinct chest tattoo visible in a photograph Gomez uploaded online during their trip to the beach resort of Punta Sal.
Following widespread online speculation, Lozada publicly declared his affection for Gomez by dedicating a romantic message calling her his favorite place. Gomez subsequently addressed the romance during an interview with Radio Nueva Q, expressing joy and describing herself as calm and happy in this stage of being in love.
Radio interview and musical collaboration
Speaking to Radio Nueva Q, Gomez explained how the couple manages to meet despite tight performance schedules with their respective cumbia orchestras. She said she believed that when someone wanted to make something work, everything was possible despite unusual timing, adding that she was calm and happy while sending Lozada a kiss and a hug.
Gomez also praised Lozada's vocal talents, stating that she liked his voice and all the songs he performed. She added that their relationship grew out of mutual admiration and respect, noting that working in the same musical environment helped both partners understand each other's demanding careers.
Cumbia is a popular Latin American music genre widely performed by large touring orchestra ensembles across Peru. Lozada is an heir to Armonia 10, a historic cumbia orchestra formed in the northwestern city of Piura. Gomez previously sang for major Peruvian cumbia groups including Corazon Serrano, Puro Sentimiento, and Son del Duke before joining Las Estrellas de la Cumbia.

During the radio interview, Gomez also discussed her professional stability with Las Estrellas de la Cumbia, shortly after being dismissed from Son del Duke over alleged infractions. She said she was pleased to join an ensemble that already had an established fanbase, explaining that she came to contribute alongside her fellow vocalists.
Gomez expressed happiness over the strong reception of her song Confieso, a track she dedicated to her deceased grandfather.
The romance confirmation follows a security incident involving Gomez's home. Las Estrellas de la Cumbia previously made a public appeal to Peruvian political leader Keiko Fujimori after an explosive attack targeted Gomez's house, stating that no one should have to live in fear.
