SYITREN has launched an unusual CD player called the RM1 on Kickstarter, built around an open, transparent design. The acrylic housing lets users watch the disc spin and the optical drive and internal components work, turning the device into both a music player and a decorative object.
The RM1 can sit on a table or mount on a wall. It has an LED display showing the track number, volume level and playback indicator, along with repeat, sequential and shuffle playback modes controlled by remote.
Specs and playback
The player supports standard CDs as well as discs containing MP3 and WMA files. Its anti-shock system buffers up to 40 seconds for audio CDs and up to 120 seconds for MP3s, keeping playback stable during minor vibrations. The unit measures 260 by 260 by 42 millimeters and weighs no more than 0.9 kilograms.
The RM1 has no built-in speakers. Audio streams via Bluetooth 5.3 to compatible wireless speakers, or through external speakers and headphones via a 3.5mm jack. A 2000 mAh battery powers it for roughly 6 to 8 hours of playback, and it recharges over USB-C in about two hours.
Kickstarter pricing for the RM1 starts at $89, against a suggested retail price of $179.
