Sony Named Most Reliable TV Brand in Tom's Guide Poll

Sony has been named the most reliable television manufacturer by 3,200 readers of the publication Tom's Guide in a survey published on the outlet's website.

The Japanese brand received 32 percent of the votes. South Korean companies LG and Samsung followed with 25 percent and 24 percent respectively. TCL received 11 percent, Hisense earned 6 percent, and Vizio received 1 percent.

Television reliability rankings and pricing

Specialists at the publication said they generally agreed with the readers' decision, noting that Sony devices lead performance tests. However, they observed that the Japanese brand's televisions are typically noticeably more expensive than competitors' models, concluding that the price of stability often falls on the buyer.

The authors also noted that Sony operates primarily in the premium television segment, while TCL and Hisense manufacture relatively inexpensive models for a wide range of users.

In mid-July, journalists from the publication BGR stated that increased heating can shorten a television's lifespan. They recommended turning off devices more often in hot weather and keeping them out of direct sunlight.
