Sony said it has secured a sufficient supply of RAM chips to produce PlayStation 5 consoles at planned volumes.

As a result, the company does not expect the global memory shortage to affect console output through the end of its current fiscal year, which runs until April 2027.
Sony believes demand for the PlayStation 5 could rise toward the end of the year. One major factor will be the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, scheduled for November 19. The company has not said whether it plans to change the console's price.
Sales and profit
Sony sold 1.6 million PlayStation 5 units in the quarter, down from 2.5 million a year earlier. Since the console's launch, the company has shipped a total of 95.3 million units.
Despite the drop in console sales, operating profit at Sony's gaming division rose 37% to 54.1 billion yen. The number of monthly active PlayStation users also grew, reaching 125 million.
