The technology serves as a strategic ally for architects, engineers, and builders by analyzing large volumes of data to support faster, more precise, and sustainable decisions.
Silvia Andino, marketing manager at Saint-Gobain Imptek, said artificial intelligence does not replace the experience of builders but strengthens it. She added that the greatest contribution of the technology is helping make better use of resources while accelerating efficient and sustainable construction.
Design and execution efficiency
The transformation begins before the first material is placed. Artificial intelligence can evaluate thousands of options during the design phase to optimize lighting, ventilation, energy consumption, and material use.
In Toronto, Canada, Autodesk used generative artificial intelligence to analyze more than 10,000 design configurations for its offices. The process reduced weeks of work to a few days and created more functional spaces for employees.
During project execution, artificial intelligence helps coordinate schedules, anticipate delays, optimize material supplies, and detect errors before they cause cost overruns. This improves productivity, reduces waste, and strengthens worker safety.
In Switzerland, ZenRobotics uses robots equipped with artificial intelligence to sort up to 200 tonnes of construction waste per hour. The system recovers materials to reuse in new projects, strengthening the circular economy.
