The General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training and Lifelong Learning announced 95 specialties for Public Higher Vocational Training Schools in Greece. The programs will operate under the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports during the 2026 to 2027 academic year.
According to ministry planning, the 95 specialties will expand across 860 class sections nationwide. Training will take place in 116 Public Higher Vocational Training Schools, known as SAEK, along with 17 branches and off-site sections.
The secretariat stated that officials designed the courses based on documented proposals submitted by individual SAEK institutions. The selection process accounted for current labor market demands, ongoing investments in the Greek economy, and regional development goals. Special priority was given to island and border regions to support local growth and keep young people in their home communities.
Course updates and online tools
The new offerings add to specialties previously included in the 2026 Parallel Computerised Form. The ministry said all specialties will follow updated Training Guides, with corresponding educational textbooks scheduled for online publication before classes begin.
Prospective students can view the full list of available courses by location through the SAEK Map online application at https://ieklab.sch.gr/saekmap.
Application process and financial support
Applications for candidate selection and registration will open in September through the online platform at https://diek.it.minedu.gov.gr. The secretariat will issue an official notice before the portal accepts submissions.
Under the Operating Regulations of Public SAEKs published in Government Gazette FEK 4676/B/2025, candidate selection will be based on academic and social criteria.
Tuition at all public SAEK institutes under the ministry is fully free. Students who relocate to study outside their permanent residence may also apply for a housing allowance if they fulfill legal requirements, according to officials. The Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported the announcement.
