The milestone show, titled "Retro Jazz 15 años: Gala del Cancionero Dominicano," will take place in the Carlos Piantini Hall of the national venue. Tickets for the anniversary event are already available to the public.

The National Theatre, situated in the capital city of Santo Domingo, is the primary venue for fine arts and classical performances in the Dominican Republic. Its Carlos Piantini Hall is the main auditorium used for major concerts and stage productions in the country.

Anniversary Concert Details

Performing under the slogan "15 años jazzeando el corazón dominicano," the band promises a grand anniversary celebration. The group will be accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra under the direction of maestro Junior Basurto, along with several featured guest artists.

Pengbian Sang, the director and bassist of Retro Jazz, said the group was extremely happy and proud to celebrate 15 years in music. He described their career as an arduous, difficult, and laborious journey, but one filled with deep satisfaction and notable achievements.

Sang said the group has had the privilege of enjoying the backing of a loyal audience that continues to grow. He added that the band is currently working on the orchestral arrangements and expressed confidence that they will deliver a show that audience members will talk about for a long time.

Band History and Achievements

Over the past 15 years, Retro Jazz has released four studio albums, titled "Jazzeando el Cancionero Dominicano," Volumes 1 through 4. These productions have established the group as a key benchmark in modern Dominican music by blending traditional songs with jazz harmonies.

The group's debut album won the prestigious Soberano Award for Album of the Year in 2014. The accolade marked the first time a jazz recording received the top album prize at the Dominican Republic's primary awards ceremony.

Launch concerts for the group's four albums have gathered thousands of music lovers at major Dominican sites, including Plaza España in Santo Domingo and the gardens of the National Theatre. The band has also brought its music to international audiences through performances at Latin American jazz festivals.

Band Lineup and Ticket Information

In addition to founder and bassist Pengbian Sang, the group includes lead vocalist Laura Rivera, pianist and vocalist Álvaro Dinzey, percussionist Edgar Molina, drummer Guy Frómeta, saxophonist Eliezer Paniagua, and guitarist Melvin Rodríguez.

Tickets for the October performance are on sale through Uepa Tickets, the CCN Service Center at Supermercados Nacional, Jumbo, and Merca Jumbo outlets across the country.
