PrivatBank kept its cash dollar exchange rate unchanged at 44.85 hryvnias per dollar on Friday, August 21. The state-owned financial institution also maintained its euro exchange rate at the previous level of 52.55 hryvnias per euro.

Customers looking to sell foreign currency to PrivatBank can exchange US dollars at a rate of 44.25 hryvnias per dollar. The bank's purchase rate for the euro stands at 51.55 hryvnias per unit.

For payment cards at PrivatBank, the dollar exchange rate remained unchanged on Friday at 44.84 hryvnias. The euro rate when paying by card today also matched yesterday's indicator at 52.63 hryvnias.

PrivatBank is Ukraine's largest commercial bank, providing retail financial services and card settlement operations across the country. Commercial exchange rates offered by retail lenders fluctuate daily based on market liquidity and financial system conditions.



National Bank of Ukraine official exchange rates

The National Bank of Ukraine, which serves as the country's central monetary authority, set the official dollar exchange rate for August 21 at 44.61 hryvnias per dollar. With this benchmark, the Ukrainian currency strengthened by 9 kopecks compared to the previous indicator.

Against the European currency, the hryvnia weakened its position. The central bank set the official rate for the euro for Friday at 52.13 hryvnias per euro, marking a loss of 26 kopecks for the hryvnia.

This official rate established a new historic record high for the euro exchange rate in Ukraine. The previous record for the European currency was recorded on June 16 at 52.04 hryvnias per euro.

Across commercial banks in Ukraine, the average dollar exchange rate dropped by 4 kopecks today to 44.95 hryvnias per dollar. Commercial banks bought US currency from the public at an average purchasing rate of 44.47 hryvnias per dollar.

The average euro exchange rate across Ukrainian banks rose by 9 kopecks today to 52.49 hryvnias per euro. Banks offered to purchase European currency from clients at an average buying rate of 51.80 hryvnias per euro.
