Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are planning to move their family back to Britain from California, swapping their residence in the United States for a new home in the United Kingdom.
The decision marks a major U-turn for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from royal duties and relocated to America in 2020. In May last year, Harry told the BBC in no uncertain terms that he could not "see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK."
Ostensibly, the couple are returning so their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, can benefit from a British education and spend time with their extended family. Reports indicate they plan to settle in the Cotswolds, where they intend to establish a new base with assistance from old allies and Harry's uncle, Charles Spencer.

Vine suggested the couple face a fear of missing out as their commercial and social standing in America wanes. Without their active royal roles, Harry functions largely as a private individual with little traditional workplace experience, while Meghan is a former television actress.
When the Sussexes first moved to the United States, they were considered among the most popular members of the Royal Family, leading commentators to predict their departure would severely damage the monarchy. However, as the couple issued public criticisms from abroad, public sympathy in Britain largely shifted toward the remaining royals.
