Police officer Enric has recommended a portable security lock costing under 10 euros to stop unauthorized access to rooms from the outside.
The advice was shared in Madrid through the TikTok profile Policía de Corazón (@policiablueline), where the officer demonstrated how the low-cost device can protect travelers, renters, and residents in shared housing.
Personal safety and peace of mind remain a major concern for individuals staying away from home or living with roommates. Traditional security systems, such as complex electronic alarms or high-cost armored deadbolts, are often unaffordable or impractical for temporary stays.
Enric cautioned that even when a door is closed, situations can arise where someone attempts to gain entry from the outside. To counter this vulnerability, he emphasized the importance of adding an extra layer of security to prevent unexpected intrusions.

The police officer highlighted that the pocket-sized device costs under 10 euros, making effective home and room security affordable for any budget. According to Enric, the mechanism physically blocks the door from opening while a person is inside the room.
A primary challenge facing renters and hotel guests is the inability to modify doors or fixtures. Standard mechanical locks generally require drilling holes, installing screws, or hiring professional locksmiths, actions strictly prohibited in rented flats, temporary residences, and hotel rooms.
The portable lock overcomes these structural limitations through simple installation. Enric explained that the piece installs in just a few seconds without needing any tools or drilling holes into the frame.

Once fitted to the existing latch or frame mechanism, the device adds an additional internal lock. Enric stated that this extra barrier makes it difficult for anyone to open the door from the outside, even if they hold a duplicate key or master key.
