Peruvian actor Luis Baca publicly called out a social media user who hurled racist insults at him after he voiced opposition to Keiko Fujimori, responding not with anger but with a pointed cultural reference.
The user posted comments on Baca’s accounts calling him a “burro cholo” and saying he was nothing in Lima, using the word “cholo” as a slur. Baca shared the messages on Instagram and TikTok, then filmed himself with the song Cholo soy y no me compadezcas, by Luis Abanto Morales, playing in the background.
On July 30, 2026, Baca wrote that some people say “cholo” with pride, affection and a sense of belonging, while others use it to try to humiliate. He said the word is the same in both cases, but what differs is what each person carries inside.
Baca, who has appeared in telenovelas including Mi amor el wachiman 2, Los Vilchez, Ven, baila, quinceañera and Señora del destino, said he is focused on an upcoming project and stressed that work has not been lacking for him. He told the person who attacked him not to be that kind of person.
The actor has publicly opposed fujimorismo and regularly uses social media to criticize politicians.
