Peru has 16 public holidays in 2026, giving workers in both the public and private sectors paid days off throughout the year.
The calendar begins with New Year’s Day on January 1, followed by Holy Thursday and Good Friday on April 2 and 3. Labor Day falls on May 1.
June brings two holidays: the Battle of Arica and Flag Day on June 7, and Saints Peter and Paul on June 29. The Peruvian Air Force Day is observed on July 23, with National Independence celebrations spanning July 28 and 29.
August includes the Battle of Junin on the 6th and Saint Rose of Lima on the 30th. October 8 marks the Battle of Angamos. November 1 is All Saints Day, and December closes the year with the Immaculate Conception on the 8th, the Battle of Ayacucho on the 9th, and Christmas on the 25th.
Holiday Pay Rules
Workers who do not work on a holiday receive their ordinary daily wage. Those who do work on a holiday without a substitute rest day receive their regular holiday pay plus the wage for the day worked, with an additional 100 percent on top of the standard rate.
