Singer Paulina Villalobos has turned down an invitation to join the popular Peruvian cumbia group Corazón Serrano, band co-owner Edwin Guerrero revealed during a live broadcast.
Guerrero explained that representatives from the musical group held two meetings with the artist's mother, who also acts as her manager, before receiving a final negative response.
Villalobos gained national prominence in Peru as an impersonator of Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja on the television talent competition Yo Soy, where she is currently a contestant.

Decisions and Negotiations
The initial proposal began when Edwin Guerrero expressed interest in hiring Villalobos after watching her performances on television. His brother, Leodan Guerrero, subsequently held a video call with the singer's mother to outline the offer and discuss potential terms.
During that initial discussion, both sides agreed to consult further before making a definitive decision. However, in a second follow-up communication, the mother informed the band leadership that Villalobos would not accept the contract offer.
Guerrero shared details of the response on a TikTok live stream, stating that Villalobos and her team expressed gratitude for the invitation but confirmed she would instead focus on building her career as a solo artist. He added that negotiations are now officially closed and that joining Corazón Serrano will not be possible at this time.
Praise for the Young Singer
Despite the rejection, Guerrero praised the performer's musical abilities and expressed disappointment that the collaboration would not move forward. He noted that the band had hoped to feature her vocals on upcoming cumbia recordings, describing her as a versatile artist capable of singing multiple genres, including salsa.
Guerrero also remarked that joining an established band with decades of industry experience would have provided Villalobos with significant exposure and professional opportunities to advance her musical career.
Group History and Fan Reactions
Corazón Serrano, founded in Piura in northern Peru, is currently preparing to celebrate 33 years of performing cumbia music. The group remains one of the country's most prominent musical acts, known for featuring talented female vocalists.
The decision generated widespread discussion among fans on TikTok following Guerrero's broadcast. Several users commented that passing on an offer from such a prominent orchestra was a missed opportunity, while others argued that starting a solo career early was a valid choice for a talented performer.
