Peruvian footballer Paolo Guerrero has issued a public apology after claiming unauthorized access to his social media accounts caused his Instagram profile to refollow his ex-partner Alondra Garcia Miro.
The Alianza Lima forward stated that his digital accounts were subject to a hack, leading to automated interactions including friend requests, likes, and reposted content across his profiles.
Guerrero explained that he first began noticing strange behavior on his social media accounts roughly a week ago before investigating the issue with his team.
Following a review, the striker confirmed that three malicious logins took place from separate devices at specific times, with screenshots showing active sessions including one originating from Brazil.
Unauthorised social media activity
Addressing the controversy, Guerrero emphasized that he was not responsible for refollowing his former partner or reposting her publication on Instagram, linking the actions directly to the security breach.
The online activity triggered widespread speculation and prompted Guerrero's current partner, Ana Paula Consorte, to take drastic measures upon discovering that he had refollowed Garcia Miro.
The footballer reached out to his followers to express his regrets over the incident, stating he was sorry for any inconvenience caused to users who received suspicious friend requests, likes, or reposts from his account.
Legal action against hackers
In addition to clarifying the situation, the Alianza Lima player announced that formal legal proceedings have already been initiated against those responsible for hacking his social media channels.
Guerrero concluded by stating that a quick judicial intervention had successfully enabled authorities to identify the suspects, paving the way for corresponding criminal complaints to be filed.
Guerrero, nicknamed El Depredador, plays as a forward for Peruvian club Alianza Lima. He previously had a high-profile relationship with Peruvian actress and model Alondra Garcia Miro before entering a relationship with Brazilian model Ana Paula Consorte.
