The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served a new notice of suspicion to Olga Stefanishyna, according to sources cited by RBC-Ukraine. Stefanishyna is a former vice prime minister for European integration and former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States. Sources said the High Anti-Corruption Court is choosing a pre-trial restriction for her, while her defense team asked to hold the hearing in closed session.
Stefanishyna said on Facebook that procedural actions are part of the lawful work of law enforcement and do not establish guilt. She stated that she treats the events calmly and described the surrounding noise as a storm in a glass of water. She added that she publicly commented on media questions regarding real estate over a year ago, provided journalists with all necessary documents about the apartment in question, and has nothing to hide.
Dismissal and Washington Mission
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Stefanishyna from her post as Ukrainian ambassador to the United States by decree on July 3, without specifying a reason, UNIAN reported. Stefanishyna stated on Facebook that she resigned of her own accord after completing the main goals of her mission. She said she helped increase American weapons supplies and preserve support while the political situation in Washington changed against Ukraine.
Stefanishyna served in the position from August 27, 2025. Following her appointment, Zelenskyy noted that her key tasks were concluding agreements for weapons and modern drones for Ukraine.
Earlier Investigation Details
In July 2025, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office opened criminal proceedings based on media reports about potential abuse by officials of the National Asset Recovery and Management Agency, an investigation that involved Stefanishyna's family. Prosecutors stated at the time that no individual had been served with a notice of suspicion in that proceeding.
However, People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko noted that prosecutors opened a criminal case against Stefanishyna. He stated that she was suspected of abuse of power or official position causing severe consequences under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
