Nikos Papathanasis approves €15.28m Ptolemaida care center

Greek Alternate Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis has approved 15.28 million euros to build a care center for the elderly and disabled in Ptolemaida. The project will establish a dedicated facility serving vulnerable residents across the Western Macedonia region.

Papathanasis signed the official decision integrating the project into the Special Program for Just Development Transition of the National Development Program 2021 to 2025. The Holy Metropolis of Florina, Prespes and Eordaea has been designated as the official beneficiary responsible for executing the scheme on its own land in the city.

Facility funding and scope

The action carries a total public expenditure of 15,289,599.98 euros. Public funding will cover three distinct phases of development required to bring the social welfare facility into immediate operation.

First, the allocation provides for all necessary technical studies regarding the erection of the building infrastructure and surrounding grounds. Second, funding will cover the physical construction of the facility and exterior landscaping on property owned by the Metropolis in Ptolemaida.

Third, the financing will fund the purchase of all necessary technological and medical equipment required to ensure the care center can open and operate right away.

Regional healthcare support

According to the official announcement, the new center will cover critical welfare services for the entire Western Macedonia region. At present, there is no similar facility operating within the broader area, making the project a vital addition to local social infrastructure.
