Former model Niki Kartsona is preparing to move out of Athens and relocate permanently to Kalamata, fulfilling what she described as her life goal.
Speaking during an interview on the television show Noris Noris on Tuesday, September 29, she explained that she and her husband will make the move in the summer after their son completes his school education.
Kartsona said her son, Filippos, will stay in Athens to pursue his studies while she and her husband leave the family home. She added that returning to Kalamata has been a major dream and her long-held ambition.
Reflecting on her time in the capital, Kartsona expressed gratitude to Athens, noting that she has lived in the city since she was 12 years old and that it had given her wonderful experiences. However, she emphasized her desire to simplify her life and return to her roots, explaining that she had repeatedly put her own needs behind those of others in the past.
Plans for relocation and a simpler life
Kartsona described Kalamata as one of the most beautiful cities in Greece and pointed out that it is located just two hours away from Athens. She noted that living in smaller towns offers a more human quality of life compared to the capital, which she characterized as harsher.
The move has been a long-standing decision rather than a sudden choice. Kartsona explained that she did not consult others on the matter, simply deciding that once Filippos completed his school education, she would make her exit. She described having the opportunity to turn her dream into reality as a gift.
Kalamata, a coastal city in the southwestern Peloponnese region, is known for its Mediterranean climate and olive production, while Athens serves as the capital and largest city of Greece.
Nineteen years of marriage
The relocation marks a new chapter for Kartsona and her husband, former professional basketball player Nikos Chatzis, who have been married for 19 years. The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary in July.
To mark the occasion, Kartsona shared a photograph of the couple on Instagram alongside a message reflecting on the significance of July in her life. She described July, the seventh month of the year, as her favorite month and highlighted her special connection to the number seven, noting that she was born in 1977 and married on July 1, 2007. Her son Filippos was also born on July 1.
The relocation news follows another recent emotional statement from the television personality. In late June 2026, Kartsona spoke openly about her grief following the death of her mother, sharing that she asks her mother for forgiveness every night because she continues to cry for her daily.
