Nic Vansteenberghe Speaks After Olandria Carthen Reunion

Nic Vansteenberghe has addressed his relationship status with ex Olandria Carthen after reuniting at Jordyn Woods and Karl-Anthony Towns' wedding in Las Vegas.

Speaking at LIV Beach at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Aug. 16, 2026, per footage shot by @jpasc24, the 25-year-old reality star teased whether he and Carthen have rekindled their romance following their recent breakup.

"I would love to tell you guys, but I’m going to keep that private for now," Vansteenberghe said, adding, "We did enjoy ourselves tremendously at Karl and Jordyn’s wedding last night. It was amazing."

Reunion after recent breakup

Vansteenberghe and Carthen, who finished as runners-up on season seven of Love Island USA, called it quits in July 2026 after spending over a year together.

Despite the split, Vansteenberghe stressed that former partners can "absolutely" remain friends if the relationship ends healthily. "If you end healthily, it’s cool," he explained. "Sometimes it’s better to maybe not be friends, but in my case, yes. We ended on a good note."

Admitting that breakups are not easy while keeping a positive outlook, he offered advice for others navigating a split. "Things will always get better. It’s rock bottom, but it’s about the climb," he said. When asked if he is enjoying the single life, he noted, "It’s a bit soon."

His latest comments come three weeks after he confirmed the breakup on July 26, 2026, in a subscribers-only TikTok video. "The rumors are true," Vansteenberghe wrote at the time. "I didn’t want to give people false hope, so I want to clear the air. We will continue to love each other ALWAYS. It’s a sensitive, as well as a private subject, thank you for respecting our privacy."

Villa romance and history

Love Island USA is a reality dating television series where contestants pair up in a villa to find romance and compete for viewer votes.

Fans grew fond of the couple after they coupled up during Casa Amor following their initial eliminations in season seven, transitioning from friends to lovers. However, 27-year-old Carthen revealed to Variety in July 2025 that their connection was present from the start.

"Nic and I have always had a thing for each other since day one," Carthen said. "I kissed him on day one. Just because I didn’t choose to go with him does not mean that spark wasn’t there. It took us some time to get to this point."

Early UK series couples

Beyond Vansteenberghe and Carthen, several other Love Island relationships have evolved after leaving the show.

Season two UK winners Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde met in 2016 and briefly split in May 2017 when Cara learned she was pregnant. They reconciled before welcoming their son Freddie in December 2017. Nathan proposed at the villa in July 2018, the couple married in June 2019, and daughter Delilah was born in July 2020.

Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland finished second in UK season two in 2016 and got engaged the following year, with Olivia appearing on Say Yes to the Dress. They married in September 2018 in a ceremony documented for TLC's Olivia and Alex Said Yes and Olivia and Alex: Happily Ever After. They welcomed son Abel in June 2022 and daughter Sienna in August 2025 following a February 2025 pregnancy announcement.

UK season three pair Dominic Lever and Jess Rose continued their romance after he was voted off, marrying in October 2018 and raising two children. Season three fan-favorites Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt finished second after meeting in 2017, married in September 2021, and share three children: Nell, born October 2020; Nora, born May 2022; and Brodie, born May 2024.

Splits and new beginnings in UK seasons

Ellie Brown and Charlie Brake left UK season four together in 2018, but their romance ended shortly after returning from Mallorca. Ellie announced her engagement to an unnamed boyfriend in July 2025, one year after revealing their relationship.

UK season four champions Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham announced their split in December 2018. Dani wrote on Instagram: "Jack and I have sadly decided to part ways. It's been an incredible six months, and we will always have a place in our hearts for each other, but we've sadly come to the realisation that it's not meant to be long term. We both plan to stay friends."

After briefly reuniting, they split again in early 2019, with Jack writing on Instagram: "sometimes things aren’t meant to be." In an April 2019 post, Jack added: "We will always care a lot for each other and have love for each other and I mean that from the bottom of my heart and I wish her nothing but happiness." Jack noted they "really did try to make it work but it unfortunately didn’t and that is life."

In February 2025, Jack told The Sun that addiction contributed to the breakup. "I have blown more than a million pounds thanks to drugs, booze and gambling," Jack said. "Drugs helped my relationship with Dani fail. I was absent, my priorities were wrong, I wasn’t a great boyfriend. I am determined to change my future."

Dani married soccer player Jarrod Bowen in May 2025. They share twin girls Summer and Star, born in May 2023, while Dani also has a son, Santi, born in January 2021 with ex Sammy Kimmence.

Season five UK outcomes

Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt paired on day one of season five before Joe was voted out. Though Lucie dated other men and admitted feelings for Tommy Fury, the surfer and sandwich maker dated after the season until splitting in early December 2019. Lucie is now engaged to season six contestant Luke Mabbott, while Joe appeared on All Stars in 2024.

Season five winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea split weeks after the finale. Greg, an Irish rugby player, ended it via text. Amber said on Loose Women: "I think the careers and the distance was always a factor. It was always something that we knew about, so I don't know what changed. I kind of wanted to make it work, but it is what it is, really."

Greg defended his decision on RTE's The Late Late Show: "She lives in the UK, every brand wants to work with her, every event wants her there, of course, she deserves all of it and I decided to come back to Ireland and do my thing here." Greg got engaged to Jeanni Mulder in early 2025.

Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan split soon after season five. Anton told Mail Online: "No, definitely not, it's just not that type of relationship. We're so friendly now, it would be like dating your sister, effectively. It's not that kind of relationship anymore." He later finished fifth on All Stars in 2024 with Georgia Harrison before splitting.

Influencer Molly-Mae Hague and boxer Tommy Fury finished second in season five and got engaged in July 2024, six months after daughter Bambi was born. Molly-Mae announced a breakup in August 2024 on Instagram Stories: "I’m extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end. I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me, now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us, there would be no her. She will always be my priority." However, she revealed on her May 2025 Amazon Prime series Molly-Mae: Behind It All that they reconciled. After announcing a second pregnancy in February 2026, they welcomed their second child in June 2026.

Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins placed fourth in season five. Maura advised on This Morning: "I think trust one another, don't believe everything you read in the press and one main thing: Don't let fame get to your head. You just need to stay grounded." They split in March 2020, with Maura posting on Instagram: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship."

Curtis appeared on Love Island: Games in 2023 and placed third on All Stars in 2025 with Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu before splitting in May 2025. Ekin-Su wrote on Instagram: "I wanted to share that Curtis and I have decided to go our separate ways. It's been a really tough decision, but one made with a lot of love and respect for one another. He's an incredible person and I'll always cherish the memories we made both in and out of the villa."

Professional basketball player Ovie Soko and model India Reynolds placed third in season five after meeting in Casa Amor and late in the show, splitting later in 2019. India told MailOnline: "Obviously it's difficult, but any break up is difficult. It's even more difficult when it's in front of the rest of the world, but I'll be fine. I'm lucky I've got a really close group of girlfriends, they've been really looking after me." She appeared on All Stars in early 2025.

Winter UK season updates

Season six winter winners Finley Tapp and Paige Turley moved in together in February 2020 and split three years later. Finley debuted a new romance in August 2024, confirmed by The Sun in June 2025 to be Jess Hale, and they welcomed son Austin in January 2026.

Third-place season six couple Luke Mabbott and Demi Jones split months after leaving. Demi told MailOnline in June 2020: "We've completely called it off now. I think it was brought about more from his behalf than mine, but we're mutual and friendly. With lockdown, it drove us apart and we live so far away from each other. I feel like there wasn't a lot of effort made with communication, so we drifted as a result." Luke got engaged to Lucie Donlan after connecting in July 2020, while Demi met Luis Morrison on All Stars in 2024 before splitting later that year.

Ched Uzor and Jess Gale placed fourth in season six before splitting in June 2020, with Jess posting: "To confirm, myself and Ched have split, we are still good friends and I wish him all the best x. Thanks for all the support you have given us since the villa."

Nas Majeed left Demi Jones for Eva Zapico after Casa Amor in season six, making it official in July 2020. Despite engagement rumors in August 2023, Nas announced their split in March 2024 on Instagram: "Unfortunately, Eva and I have decided to end our relationship. There is no bad blood or wrong doing, it was a mutual and completely amicable decision. We tried to work things out over the past couple of months but decided this was for the best, and are both at peace with the situation." Nas left All Stars solo in 2025.

Scaffolder Callum Jones left Shaughna Phillips for Molly Smith at Casa Amor during season six. They dated for three years until splitting in 2023. On All Stars in 2024, Molly won with Tom Clare, while Callum finished second with Jess Gale. Despite how all this has played out today, I think Jess is an amazing woman and genuinely wish her the best." Sammy coupled with Elma Pazar on All Stars in 2025 before split rumors surfaced in June 2025.

Season 11 couple Uma Jammeh and Wil Anderson left on day 37 when Wil was dumped after Uma was chosen by Reuben Collins. They announced their engagement in July 2025, with Uma writing: "We've been sitting on a bad boy piece of information."

Speaking on the Not My Bagg podcast with hosts Lisa Baggs and Joe Baggs, Uma said: "There was no question. I didn't have to think about it at all. I want to be with Wil."
