The National Electoral Council (CNE) will set up 4,492 polling stations for the sectional and Council for Public Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) elections scheduled for Nov. 29, 2026. Official planning establishes that 4,399 of these venues will be located within national territory, while 93 will operate abroad. These spaces will house the vote receiving boards during election day.
The CNE reported that the selected facilities meet the necessary civil and technological infrastructure requirements for the electoral boards to function. Selection criteria also included security, accessibility, and proximity to voters' places of residence. Setting up these locations forms part of overall preparations for choosing sectional authorities and CPCCS members.
Contingency plans and voter access
The electoral body is also preparing for scenarios that could alter its schedule, such as adverse weather or natural disasters. The CNE stated that it will activate contingency plans and relocate polling stations if necessary. The goal is to make timely adjustments so voters can exercise their right to vote under safe conditions.
The agency confirmed it will continue organizing the upcoming Nov. 29 election day as scheduled. The vote remains part of the official calendar established for the sectional and CPCCS elections.
