Dominican merengue singer Miriam Cruz took the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana to perform a production blending live music, dance, and visual projections during the 25th anniversary of the Latin Music Tours.
According to press materials shared with news outlet Diario Libre, Cruz was the second artist to take the stage during the concert session. She performed accompanied by her full live orchestra and a troupe of professional dancers.

The concert production was previously presented at the Velódromo de Venezuela in Caracas before being adapted for the larger venue in Punta Cana. The performance was structured around distinct visual chapters paired directly with specific songs in her setlist.
Stage Production and Choreography
Choreographed routines throughout the set incorporated thematic props, including traditional hats, African-inspired wooden sticks, and metal güiras. High-definition video screens, lighting effects, animated graphics, and theatrical dramatizations complemented the live musical performance.
The güira is a traditional Dominican percussion instrument made of perforated metal and scraped with a rod, serving as a foundational rhythmic element in merengue music.
Each song featured a tailored choreographic concept designed around continuous interaction between Cruz, her backing musicians, and the dance troupe. The show unfolded as a continuous sequence of scenes in which the visual elements and musical arrangements shared equal prominence on stage.
During her set, Cruz performed a selection of well-known tracks spanning her musical career, including compositions representing different historical eras of Dominican merengue. Members of the attending audience responded by dancing along and singing in unison with several of the featured songs.
Artist Background and Festival Legacy
Cruz first rose to international prominence in the 1980s as the lead vocalist for the pioneering all-female merengue orchestra Las Chicas del Can. Over a solo career spanning multiple decades, she has remained one of the defining female figures in tropical Latin music.
The concert formed part of the official anniversary agenda for the Latin Music Tours as the event celebrated 25 years of operations. The multi-day festival brings together prominent performers across various Dominican and Caribbean musical genres, including merengue, bachata, and urban music.
The host venue, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, is a major resort and entertainment complex located along the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic in La Altagracia province.
Following her appearance at the festival, Cruz is continuing to incorporate expanded stage production elements into her live concerts. She maintains an active schedule of performances across the Dominican Republic and on international stages.
