Peruvian race car driver Mario Hart has publicly criticized the social media videos recorded by television personality Alejandra Baigorria and her husband Said Palao during her 38th birthday trip to Japan, claiming Palao appears visibly uncomfortable and forced on camera.
Speaking on the digital podcast program Sin mas que decir, Hart suggested that the couple stop trying to prove the stability of their marriage online following recent public backlash over Palao attending a bachelor party in Argentina.
Social media criticism in Japan
Baigorria, a prominent Peruvian businesswoman and fashion entrepreneur known for her clothing brand based in Lima's Gamarra commercial district, traveled to East Asia to celebrate turning 38 in Japan. However, her birthday festivities were overshadowed by online criticism regarding her relationship with Palao, a regular contestant on the long-running reality competition television show Esto es guerra.
The couple, who hosted one of the most extravagant celebrity weddings in Peru in recent years, faced renewed scrutiny after social media users repeatedly brought up Palao's recent trip to Argentina for a bachelor party, which reportedly featured a yacht celebration. Entertainment host Magaly Medina also reported details regarding the costly price of the luxury birthday gift Palao presented to Baigorria, prompting Palao to make a radical decision regarding his online presence after being inundated with comments about the Argentina party.
The wave of social media commentary was not limited to her marriage. Baigorria has also faced separate criticism from animal rights advocates in the Chaclacayo district of Lima Province.
Mario Hart on relationship pressure
Addressing the controversy during the podcast episode, Hart defended his former girlfriend while offering advice on how the couple should handle ongoing public scrutiny. Hart stated that Baigorria would have handled the situation better by acknowledging Palao's mistake regarding the bachelor party in Argentina, explaining it would have been better had she publicly stated that she forgave him, that it was her decision as his wife, and that she chose to give him a second chance.
Hart went on to evaluate Palao's demeanor in the videos Baigorria shared from their trip to Japan, noting that the reality television participant does not appear particularly happy on camera. Hart advised that the couple should stop exposing their daily life on social media, observing that they seem overly focused on demonstrating that their relationship works, is real, and makes them happy, but that the effort is failing to convince the public.
In the footage posted to social networks, Hart noted that Palao appears stiff, forced, and unnatural, as if he were being instructed to participate in a video and simply going along with it. Hart concluded by clarifying that he believes Baigorria and Palao remain a lovely couple and expressed confidence that their relationship is doing well privately, but insisted that they should stop trying to post content designed to counter public criticism.
