Fedoseyeva-Shukshina passed away while receiving care in hospital, having been admitted for medical treatment in the middle of October.

The Russian news channel Shot reported on Telegram that the cause of death for the People's Artist of the RSFSR was acute heart failure.

A prominent Soviet film career

Fedoseyeva-Shukshina was one of the most recognised performers in Soviet and Russian cinema, appearing in dozens of feature films across a screen career spanning more than five decades. She achieved widespread acclaim for her roles in celebrated Soviet productions such as The Red Snowball Tree, They Fought for Their Motherland, and the 1976 television serial The Twelve Chairs.

She was married to Vasily Shukshin, the acclaimed Soviet writer, actor, and film director who died in 1974. The couple collaborated on several landmark cinematic productions that explored provincial and rural Russian life, establishing one of the most prominent creative partnerships in Soviet cinema.

Honorary titles and family legacy

During the Soviet era, Fedoseyeva-Shukshina received the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. The honorary distinction was one of the highest awards granted to performers in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, recognising exceptional contributions to theatre and film.

Her daughter Maria Shukshina followed her parents into the Russian cultural sphere, building an extensive career as a screen actress and television presenter on national networks. She maintains an active public presence through her Telegram channel, where she published the family tribute alongside the archival photographs.
