María Pía Copello Shocked by Mother Lucha's Romance Count

María Pía Copello, a Peruvian television host, appeared visibly rattled on her podcast Sin más que decir after her mother, Luisa Hora, better known as Lucha Copello, made a series of unfiltered revelations about her daughters, her late husband and her own romantic past.

The conversation took place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during a recording of the show alongside co-hosts Mario Hart, Israel Dreyfus and Luciana Roy. Copello tried repeatedly to steer her mother away from some of her most personal stories, but she could not stop her when the group asked why she had never entered another relationship after becoming a widow.

Copello told her mother that she would not have minded if she had found a partner to keep her company, someone she could talk to, after her husband died. Hora replied that she has friends but has no interest in that.

Copello is a well known figure in Peruvian entertainment. She spent years presenting the reality competition show Esto es guerra, one of the country's most watched programmes, before moving into podcasting with Sin más que decir. She co-hosts the show with Mario Hart, a former race car driver turned television personality who also came up through Esto es guerra.

Mother reveals number of boyfriends before marriage

Later in the interview, Hora recalled a conversation she once had with Copello's father, in which he asked how many boyfriends she had had before meeting him. She told him three, then added, half joking, that he should put a zero after that number, implying the real figure was closer to thirty. The remark left her daughter shocked, and the exchange quickly became a talking point nationally.

After the comment caused a stir on set, Hora said she had already enjoyed her life the way she wanted and did not need anything more. She offered to go through her past boyfriends one by one, joking that she was starting to forget them, though Copello asked her not to continue. Hora added that she had gone through several brief romances that ended as quickly as they began, describing them as crashes followed by quick escapes.

The episode left Copello, who usually leads the show's conversation, on the receiving end of her mother's candour instead, with her co-hosts looking on as the exchange unfolded.
