Man's Blue Chips Snack Ruins Meeting With Client

A Reddit user says he showed up to a client meeting with a bright blue mouth after eating dyed spicy chips beforehand.

Man's Blue Chips Snack Ruins Meeting With Client

A Reddit user going by the name Daedricbob said he embarrassed himself in front of an important client after picking the wrong snack before a meeting, according to a post shared on the social platform.

The man said he works in a field where everyone wears dress shoes and business suits. He described a hectic Monday when he had just left one client's office for another meeting and stopped at a gas station to grab something to eat. He bought a sandwich, a drink and a bag of spicy chips he had never seen before.

When he opened the packet, he realized the chips were bright blue. He said he thought it was not quite what he expected, but he ate them anyway. He then noticed his fingers had turned blue.

Realizing the extent of the damage

At first he was not too worried, thinking he could easily deal with a bit of food coloring on his skin. But he then realized that whatever had stained his fingers had likely done the same to his mouth. His hunch was confirmed when he looked in a mirror and saw, in horror, that his lips, tongue and even his teeth had turned the same bright blue.

He said he looked as though he had tried to drink blue paint, and that he had only 20 minutes left before meeting a client who was looking for a professional and competent specialist to run their business.

No time to fix it

He was ultimately unable to solve the problem. In the comments on his post, he wrote that he had no choice but to show up to the meeting looking that way and explain the situation honestly to the client. The client took it in stride, he said, though "with a smirk on his face" insisted on introducing the man to every member of the large team.

Reddit has become a popular platform for people sharing embarrassing workplace stories. Another Reddit user previously described how she got back at a stranger for making sexist remarks while she was working as a secretary at a law firm.
