Peruvian fitness influencer and bodybuilder La Mackyna, whose real name is Mack Donny Aguilar Songhurst, has revealed that he cannot have children with his partner due to his early use of anabolic steroids.
The 36-year-old personal trainer, who has been in a relationship with singer Norka Ascue for six years, described the infertility as one of the heavy prices he had to pay for using synthetic performance enhancers from a young age.
Speaking to the Peruvian newspaper Trome, Aguilar explained that he had been a fighter and bodybuilder since his youth, knew what he wanted to achieve, and made the decision to inject steroids. He acknowledged that he was always aware of the health risks involved, adding that he believed at the time that those who do not take risks gain nothing.
Health risks and fitness advice
Aguilar, who recently appeared as a contestant on the reality television show La Granja VIP, has since focused on guiding other athletes and television personalities about the physical dangers associated with anabolic steroid abuse.
Through his personal consulting work and his role as host of the podcast ChimiChurri, Aguilar actively advises gym goers against using anabolic steroids. He stated that he urges clients to focus purely on physical training and emphasized the importance of staying fully informed before making decisions about body enhancement.
Anabolic steroids are synthetic variations of the male sex hormone testosterone. Medical experts warn that long-term non-medical use can disrupt the endocrine system, causing severe hormonal imbalance and fertility issues in men.
Rise in show business and television career
Aguilar built a widespread reputation in Peruvian national entertainment circles as a celebrity fitness coach, training several high profile artists and public figures at the gym he manages.
His initial rise in Peruvian show business came through his close friendship with cumbia singer Christian Domínguez. Aguilar personally trained the musician at his gym, and their close bond frequently brought Aguilar onto national television programs to comment on Domínguez's personal life and career.
Distancing from singer Christian Domínguez
Addressing reports of a rift between the two men, Aguilar confirmed that he and Domínguez are currently distanced from one another. He explained that there are moments in life when an individual must know how to step back and take space from someone else.
However, Aguilar clarified that the distance does not mean their long-standing friendship has ended or that they have stopped working together. He noted that while personal circumstances may require temporary boundaries, professional work remains work and they continue to collaborate when business requires it.
