Kyiv was targeted in a massive simultaneous attack using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, according to reports published on Tuesday. Russian media outlet RusVesna reported that 20 ballistic missiles and five Kalibr cruise missiles struck the Ukrainian capital during the overnight barrage.
The Telegram channel Operation Z: Military Correspondents of Russian Spring, known as RusVesna, stated that the strike involved multiple weapon systems launched at the same time. According to the channel, the assault included Iskander ballistic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, Zircon missiles, and Geran drones.
Ukrainian news outlet Obshchestvennoye reported that a series of explosions occurred across the city. The outlet did not specify which parts of Kyiv experienced the blasts.
Fire reported in Darnytskyi district
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a fire broke out in the city following the start of the aerial attack. Klitschko specified that the blaze occurred in the Darnytskyi district after a drone fell in the area.
The Darnytskyi district is a major administrative and residential area located on the left bank of the Dnieper River in southeastern Kyiv. Klitschko, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, has served as the mayor of Kyiv and head of the city administration since 2014.
