Authorities have not released the child's name or gender, and it remains unclear how the dryer delivered the fatal shock. Local news outlet KWCH reported that the incident occurred while the child was playing inside the residence, though officials have released no further details about the appliance or its condition.

Sheriff Investigation and Electrical Safety Advice

The Allen County Sheriff's Office stated that it is continuing to investigate but does not believe anyone intentionally harmed the child. "No foul play is suspected at this time, and it appears to have been a tragic accident," the department said. The agency also offered condolences to the family, dispatchers, first responders, and hospital staff.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises families to install proper outlet covers and tamper-resistant receptacles to protect children from electrical shocks. Federal safety guidelines also recommend child-protective devices that cannot be easily removed to restrict access to energized electrical components.
