Singer Kalomira and her husband George Bousalis have spoken publicly about the realities of long-term relationship commitment ahead of their 16th wedding anniversary in September.
In a joint interview with OK! magazine, the couple reflected on how they navigate relationship struggles and shared memories from their very first date.

Asked how a marriage endures over time, Kalomira explained that waves will inevitably arrive from time to time in a marital relationship. She noted that some of these waves are huge and require endurance to navigate, comparing the experience to surfing.
Navigating marriage waves
Kalomira added that overcoming two or three of these waves brings great reward, as partners experience life together and see all sides of one another. She highlighted that marriage is deeply fulfilling because a person has someone they love by their side for support, allowing love to grow deeper over time.
Bousalis also shared his perspective on handling difficulties within a marriage, emphasizing that hardship offers the clearest view of a partner's true character.
Understanding a partner through hardship
He noted that a person determines whether a partner is right for them based on how that partner behaves when times are tough, rather than when everything is going well. He added that overcoming such difficult moments leads to a greater appreciation of the relationship.
Turning to how their romance began, Kalomira described the details of her first date with Bousalis. She recalled that they went out for souvlaki, a popular Greek dish of grilled meat skewers.
Memories of their first date
During the meal, Kalomira felt too embarrassed to eat in front of him and lied, telling him that she was not hungry. She also remembered seeing older women who knew Bousalis sitting at an adjacent table and greeting him.
She recalled the exact moment Bousalis stood up from their table to go and speak with the women, noting that she still brings up the incident to him today.
