Jake Reiner, the 35-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner, has married his girlfriend Maria Gilfillan in a small ceremony in early August.
The quiet wedding took place eight months after the murder of his parents, director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner, at their home in Los Angeles.
News of the marriage was first reported by TMZ on August 31. Jake Reiner had previously shared a photograph with Gilfillan in October 2025 when the couple attended a friend's wedding together in Las Vegas. It remains unknown how the couple first met or how long they had been dating prior to their wedding.
Interview following family tragedy
Jake Reiner was recently seen wearing a wedding ring during an interview with journalist Marc Cota-Robles of local station KABC-TV. In the broadcast, he spoke publicly about adjusting to life after losing his parents on December 14, 2025.
Reflecting on the months since their deaths, Jake Reiner said that while eight months had elapsed, it simultaneously felt like eight years and eight minutes. He added that every moment he wakes up, he is reminded of his reality.
He described the initial shock of learning about the tragedy when his 28-year-old sister, Romi Reiner, called him and asked him to go to their childhood home, which had been cordoned off as a crime scene.
As a reporter for a local television station, Jake Reiner noted that his work had taken him to crime scenes before. However, he explained that standing at a scene involving his own family was a profoundly different experience.
Murder charges against Nick Reiner
The tragedy escalated when his 32-year-old brother, Nick Reiner, was arrested by police just hours after their parents were found dead. Nick Reiner has since been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder and has entered a plea of not guilty.
During the KABC-TV interview, Jake Reiner declined to answer questions regarding his brother or his alleged involvement in their parents' deaths. He did, however, state that he knew how his parents felt about Nick, noting that both Rob and Michele Reiner took an active role in helping their son fight his drug addiction.
Nick Reiner remains in custody without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15.
