Journalists at the publication described the device as Apple's most affordable smartphone across its last two product generations. They noted that the cost of the handset had fallen substantially by early August 2026, down from 77,000 rubles when it was valued a year and a half ago.

The publication highlighted that pricing for the iPhone 16e remains more favorable than that of the iPhone 17e, which offers almost no functional differences and sells for an average starting price of 50,000 rubles. Market analysts at the portal also observed that Apple smartphones carry noticeably higher price tags in major retail chains than in smaller shops and on online e-commerce platforms.

Pricing comparison and market trends

First introduced in spring 2025, the iPhone 16e was launched as a compact budget option within Apple's broader handset ecosystem. Apple Inc., headquartered in Cupertino, California, designs its mobile hardware with custom silicon and proprietary displays, selling its devices worldwide through authorized carriers, retail partners, and independent vendors.

In Russia, consumer electronics pricing often varies across retail channels depending on seller overhead and supply routes. Large national retail chains typically maintain higher retail markups, whereas smaller independent storefronts and digital marketplaces frequently offer competitive pricing on consumer tech hardware.

The reduction in cost for the iPhone 16e follows similar price adjustments across Apple's smartphone lineup in Russia. At the end of July, it was revealed that the iPhone 16 Plus had also dropped in price in Russian stores, falling to 63,000 rubles after being sold for between 67,000 and 70,000 rubles in autumn 2025.

Hardware specifications and successor

The iPhone 16e features a glass body construction reinforced with an aluminum frame. Internal components include Apple's A18 processor paired with 8 gigabytes of random-access memory, designed to handle daily computational tasks and operating system functions.

Visual output is delivered through a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display capable of reaching peak brightness levels of up to 1,200 nits. OLED screens utilize organic light-emitting diodes that allow individual pixels to illuminate independently, providing high contrast ratios and improved energy efficiency during video playback and standard display usage.

On the rear panel, the smartphone houses a single primary camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels. Power is supplied by an internal battery with a capacity of 4,005 milliampere-hours.

Apple officially introduced the iPhone 17e in March 2026 to replace the iPhone 16e as the main entry point in its budget smartphone series.
