Huawei has launched its new generation of Watch GT 7 smartwatches, introducing the Watch GT 7 Pro as the line's most sophisticated wearable model.
The flagship smartwatch features an EasyCross strap that tucks inward to surround the wrist against the skin, eliminating loose strap material during physical activity.
Technology writer Juan Scaliter reported that the Chinese electronics giant chose to perfect traditional watch design rather than alter its basic form. The device pairs a circular metal face and crown with a classic aesthetic intended to remain stylish across future product cycles.
Huawei, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, is one of the world's largest telecommunications and consumer electronics manufacturers. The company has increasingly focused its wearable device lineup on sports tracking, health metrics, and premium materials.

Titanium build and display specifications
The Watch GT 7 Pro retains several construction features from its predecessor. It combines a titanium alloy case with a ceramic rear cover and a front display protected by synthetic sapphire crystal glass.
Titanium alloy offers high structural strength while keeping overall weight low, allowing the watch case to weigh approximately 55.5 grams without a strap. Sapphire crystal provides exceptional scratch resistance compared to standard glass covers used on electronic devices.
The smartwatch is available in discreet black, elegant green, and a GT yellow sports finish. Scaliter noted that the yellow option may become the favorite choice for fitness enthusiasts.
The display is engineered for outdoor visibility under direct sunlight, featuring a brightness rating that exceeds thousands of nits. In display technology, a nit measures luminance per square meter, determining how readable a screen remains in bright environments.

Sports tracking and battery performance
Designed for multi-sport tracking, the Watch GT 7 Pro measures performance data down to the millimeter, temperature degree, angle, and movement speed. The software supports tracking across diverse surfaces, including asphalt, snow, and water, for activities such as cycling, skiing, and swimming.
The device includes built-in GPS positioning, continuous health monitoring, structured workout modes, and health sensors. Hardware specifications feature a dedicated microphone and speaker for clear voice calls, paired with a battery that exceeds the two-week battery life seen in previous generations.
Scaliter noted that the software shows clear updates compared to earlier generations, though further technical details remain unannounced. He joked that non-disclosure obligations left him watched by fictional television attorneys Harvey Specter and Perry Mason.
EasyCross strap design and functionality
The primary design novelty on the GT 7 Pro is the EasyCross strap mechanism. Rather than sitting on top of the watch body, the strap routes inward to encircle the wrist directly against the skin.
This internal routing resolves the common issue of loose strap tails moving around during exercise. Scaliter observed that the EasyCross system eliminates excess strap length while maintaining wrist comfort and security, suggesting the mechanism should become an industry standard.
The Watch GT 7 Pro addresses a standard wearable dilemma by offering expanded technological capability while keeping the underlying technology invisible to the wearer.
