Greek network Alpha dominated prime-time television ratings with dramatic hit Rififi and family comedies as morning magazine shows posted tight results.

Greek TV ratings: Rififi and Alpha shows lead prime time

Greek television network Alpha secured a commanding lead in prime-time ratings on Monday and Tuesday following autumn season premieres, driven by Sotiris Tsafoulias's new dramatic series Rififi and two hit family comedies.

Viewers across Greece began establishing clear viewing preferences after initial premiere disruptions, with scripted fiction demonstrating immediate audience trends while morning magazine shows remained locked in a tight contest.

Journalist Afroditi Grammeli noted that entertainment television typically establishes stable viewing patterns more rapidly than news programming, making strong initial impressions critical for newly launched serials.

Morning magazine shows record close contest

Greece's morning magazine programmes returned to their traditional 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. broadcast slot on Monday with minor adjustments to presenters and content, setting low initial performance expectations.

The morning slot saw magazine shows pivot heavily toward news coverage, driven by widespread interest in the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis, before transitioning to standard entertainment gossip.

Ratings data from Tuesday revealed three competing morning shows recording commercial audience shares slightly above 12 percent, with only a single percentage point separating them from the fourth-place contender.

Mega's morning show Hamogela Kai Pali! opened with a substantial lead during its Monday premiere but failed to maintain its advantage on Tuesday.

Star's Protos Kafes me ti Zina recovered from single-digit figures on its opening day to reach nearly 11 percent on Tuesday.

ANT1's To Proino and Alpha's Super Katerina experienced smaller audience fluctuations, with their daily shares moving in direct response to specific news topics.

Alpha family comedies sweep ratings boards

Alpha achieved sweeping viewership figures in the comedy category, led by its family entertainment lineup during the opening days of the season.

The returning series To Soi Sou delivered an average commercial audience share of 30.4 percent during its double-episode premiere, drawing 1,035,449 total viewers and reaching 43.1 percent among male viewers aged 18 to 24.

Alpha's second comedy, Bampa, S' Agapo, recorded a 22.7 percent commercial share during its premiere, rising to 29.5 percent among female viewers aged 25 to 44.

Mega's black comedy series Camping opened with a 15.4 percent share on its premiere before dropping to 10 percent on Tuesday.

Rififi leads dramatic series ratings

Director Sotiris Tsafoulias's new drama Rififi on Alpha established a dominant position in dramatic television, pulling ahead of competing serials in ratings and critical acclaim.

Rififi recorded a 29.3 percent commercial audience share on Monday, reaching nearly 32 percent in the 25 to 44 age demographic, followed by a 26.5 percent commercial share on Tuesday that featured a 54.3 percent rating among men aged 18 to 24.

Audience members and critics praised the show for its realistic screenplay, direction by Tsafoulias, and a starring performance by Vassilis Charalampopoulos, whose rare television appearances generated extensive praise on social media platforms.

Mega's drama Dyo Mavra Poukamisa, starring Vassilis Bisbikis, attracted numerous comments regarding its casting choices and maintained consistent audience shares hovering around 10 percent with its focus on romantic relationships.

ANT1's period drama Derti, written by Agries Melisses and I Magissa creators Melina Tsampani and Petros Kalkovalis, registered 10.2 percent on its premiere before rising to 11.1 percent on Tuesday, falling short of network expectations.

SKAI recorded single-digit commercial shares for its two series created by Andreas Georgiou, Antonios kai Kleopatra and Mple Ores, but exceeded 12 percent in total audience ratings to draw nearly 500,000 prime-time viewers.

Networks prepare new show launches and returns

The Greek television landscape faces further shifts in the coming days as Rififi concludes its limited run after a small number of episodes.

ANT1 launches its major new production Krino kai Agathi on Wednesday evening, while Alpha brings back comedy-drama Fonoi sto Kampanario for a second season.

Alpha is also preparing two future fiction projects, Kores tis Aretis and Gia Sena, while major networks prepare to reintroduce daily game shows starting Monday, September 28.

Reality show GNTM retains youth audience

Amid the heavy competition among scripted dramas, reality competition Greece's Next Top Model on Star performed strongly by securing its target youth viewership.

Greece's Next Top Model recorded a 14 percent commercial audience share on Tuesday, led by a 22.8 percent rating among female viewers aged 18 to 24.
