Google Pixel 11 owners report 5G and Wi-Fi network dropouts

Google Pixel 11 users are reporting 5G and Wi-Fi connection failures across multiple mobile networks following the lineup's August 20 release.

Google Pixel 11 owners report 5G and Wi-Fi network dropouts

Owners of Google's flagship Pixel 11 smartphone lineup have reported recurring internet connection disruptions affecting both 5G mobile networks and Wi-Fi connectivity. The issues impact users across the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL models.

Reports indicate that the signal failures affect subscribers using different mobile network operators in multiple geographical regions. However, the connectivity problems are not considered universal, as many phone owners have not experienced any network failures.

In many cases, affected devices suffer a periodic loss of 5G cellular connectivity, displaying an exclamation mark symbol next to the mobile signal indicator on the status bar. Cellular data connections typically re-establish automatically within a few seconds.

Other users report that after dropping their mobile signal, the smartphone fails to connect to home Wi-Fi networks. In these instances, the Wi-Fi icon completely disappears from the top panel of the mobile interface.

Discussions surrounding the network glitches surfaced online shortly after August 20, when Google officially released the Pixel 11 lineup. Google, headquartered in Mountain View, California, designs the Pixel series as its flagship Android hardware platform to showcase its software capabilities.

Hardware changes and support response

Some smartphone owners noted that similar connectivity disruptions occurred on previous generations of Pixel devices. To address historical signal reliability, Google replaced its previous Samsung network modem with a MediaTek M90 chip for the Pixel 11 series. MediaTek, a major semiconductor designer based in Taiwan, produces wireless modems and processors for mobile devices.

Despite the switch to the MediaTek M90 hardware, recent owner feedback indicates that the new component has not entirely resolved the underlying connection issues. Google has not yet announced an official software patch or hardware fix to address the complaints.

A community support representative for the Pixel brand informed a user on the social platform Reddit that company specialists will study the reported issues. The situation is expected to become clearer following future software updates and further feedback from device owners.
