A Glock pistol confiscated from Reni Alejandro Medina Hernandez after the murder of money changer Jorge Socrates Llanos Chuquillanqui was used in six other crimes. General Victor Revoredo Farfan, chief of the Criminal Investigation Directorate leading the homicide investigation in central Lima, reported that forensic tests on the gun linked it to two other murders and several shootings. Medina Hernandez, a 21-year-old Venezuelan national, confessed to killing the money changer.
The Criminalistics Directorate determined that projectiles recovered from the murder scene of Llanos Chuquillanqui match the seized firearm. The weapon is a380 automatic Glock pistol, model 25, with serial number BHMC-746. Pedestrian Sebastian Raul Valentin Pachas was also seriously injured during the attack on block 6 of Jiron Ucayali in Cercado de Lima, where technical ballistics inspection experts found three380 Auto shell casings.
Forensic testing and ballistics matching
Forensic experts obtained shell casings and projectiles through experimental test firings and analyzed them using the Integrated Ballistic Identification System, known as IBIS. The forensic software captures and compares microscopic marks on bullets and shell casings. The Criminalistics Directorate used the analysis to link the Glock pistol to multiple criminal incidents across Peru and store the records in centralized databases.
On June 10, Depcri Callao experts inspected vehicle APO-259 at the request of the Carmen de la Legua Reynoso police station following the murder of 53-year-old moneylender Cesar Leonardo Chavez Delgado. His partner was injured in that attack, and investigators collected 13 shell casings matching the Glock pistol.
Shooting incidents in Huachipa and Cusco
On December 24 of last year, Dircri PNP experts conducted an inspection on Las Torres Avenue outside Bray Controls Peru SAC at number 694 at the request of the Huachipa police station. Police investigated an alleged attempted murder against 25-year-old Brayan Deyvid Naupa Mendez and recovered one380 Auto shell casing from the scene.
Another attack occurred on August 24, 2025, at the intersection of Coripata Sur Avenue and Teodoro Serrudo Street in Cusco. Depdecri Cusco experts, acting on a request from the PNP flagrancy unit, inspected vehicle X3B-234 following gunfire directed at Oscar Luis Rondon Martinez, a Venezuelan national. Officers found bullet entry holes in the vehicle and recovered one matching bullet.
Earlier cases in Pachacamac and Ate
Ballistics records show the same firearm was used on August 8, 2022, during gunfire on a public street in Pachacamac. The Pachacamac police station requested the inspection, and the recovered samples were logged under entry number Secapi 739-2022 in the forensic ballistics department of Dircri PNP.
The earliest linked crime occurred on October 17, 2021, when 29-year-old Venezuelan citizen Yohany Jose Mercado Quevedo was murdered in Ate. Depcri Lima Centro experts inspected the scene on a public street at Block B, Lot 43, near the intersection of 26 de Mayo Avenue and Ceramicos Street at the request of the Ate police station, collecting 27 matching380 Auto shell casings.
General Carlos Augusto Vargas Mormontoy, head of the Criminalistics Directorate, concluded that the380 Auto Glock pistol, model 25, serial number BHMC-746, fired the ballistic evidence recovered in all six historical cases.
