The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, known as GITIS, has responded to media reports listing three candidates for its rector post, RIA Novosti reported. An agency insider said the school has no information about the potential appointments.
Earlier on August 11, news agency TASS named Konstantin Bogomolov, Eduard Boyakov, and Dmitry Pevtsov as candidates for the rector position. GITIS stated it does not know about the possible arrival of Bogomolov or Pevtsov to head the institution.
Investigation into former rector
In early August, the Ministry of Internal Affairs began an investigation into former GITIS rector Grigory Zaslavsky. Authorities are checking Zaslavsky for alleged involvement in abuse of authority and unjustified salary payments.
