Greek actor Giannis Chatzigeorgiou stated he responded to sexual harassment with a punch during an interview addressing misconduct within the performing arts industry.

Speaking on the Espresso online show Chatroom, Chatzigeorgiou confirmed that he had experienced sexual harassment, verbal abuse, and groping. He explained that he did not tolerate the behavior easily and responded directly with physical force.

Chatzigeorgiou noted that from the beginning of his career he observed individuals offering jobs and roles to young artists in exchange for favors. He stated that people had advised him to visit individuals at their private homes to secure career assistance, but he refused every invitation.

Private Home Invitations
Chatzigeorgiou urged young performers never to trust individuals who promise immediate contracts and advancement in exchange for home visits. He characterized people who make such demands as nobodies seeking to exploit young talent.

A video clip of his statements was broadcast after the 39 minute 40 second mark of the show.
Early Career Encounter
Recalling an incident from his early career, Chatzigeorgiou said he once visited an industry professional at his residence hoping to gain access to auditions. Upon entering the home, he found the man wearing a bathrobe.

Chatzigeorgiou said the man began making suggestive comments, making his non professional intentions clear. Because Chatzigeorgiou maintained a strict and serious attitude, the man abruptly changed the subject, promised a future photo shoot, and never contacted him again.
