Foo Fighters Announce First Concert in Uruguay for 2027

Foo Fighters will perform in Uruguay for the first time when their Take Cover Tour stops at Montevideo's Estadio Centenario on February 23, 2027.

The landmark concert was officially announced on Thursday by local production company AM. In a statement released to the media, the promoter confirmed that Uruguayan rock groups Niña Lobo and Gamepad have been chosen as special guest support acts for the performance.

According to the statement from producer AM, the show will form a centerpiece of the American rock group's Take Cover Tour 2027. The promoter detailed that the band's concert repertoire will feature their greatest hits alongside songs from their latest studio album, Your Favorite Toy. AM noted that the tour setlist is designed to transform stadiums, arenas, and outdoor festivals into massive crowds of singing fans with classic rock anthems including Everlong, My Hero, Learn To Fly, and Times Like These.

The Montevideo concert will mark the first time Foo Fighters have performed in Uruguay during their three-decade career. Founded in Seattle in 1994 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, the band has established itself as one of rock music's biggest stadium attractions. Their chosen venue, Estadio Centenario, is one of South America's most celebrated sports and entertainment arenas. Located in the Uruguayan capital's Parque Batlle neighborhood, the stadium was built for the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup and is designated by FIFA as a historic monument of global football.

Recent Releases and Current North American Tour

The announcement of the South American show follows a busy period for the band, who released their hit single Asking for a Friend in 2025 before embarking on a massive 12-date headline tour across Canada and the United States in 2026. The group also recently headlined the opening of the Mad Cool festival in Madrid, Spain, where they sparked wide euphoria among festivalgoers alongside fellow performer Moby.

Foo Fighters are currently completing a series of major concert dates across North America. Over the coming days, the six-member ensemble, comprising lead vocalist Dave Grohl, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarist Chris Shiflett, keyboardist Rami Jaffee, and drummer Ilan Rubin, will take to the stage in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Nashville, Washington, and Los Angeles.

South American Festival and 2027 World Tour

Following their North American dates, the group will travel south for a major festival appearance in Brazil. On September 4, Foo Fighters are scheduled to arrive in the country to participate in the famed Rock in Rio festival, one of the world's largest music events held in Rio de Janeiro.

Looking ahead to 2027, schedule details published on the band's official website reveal an extensive international itinerary prior to their arrival in Montevideo. The group will tour Oceania and Asia, with scheduled stops in Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand, Perth in Australia, and the Indian cities of Bangalore and Mumbai.

After completing their debut concert in the Uruguayan capital on February 23, 2027, Foo Fighters will continue the South American leg of their tour with scheduled performances in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Lima, Peru.
