Steve Hackett, the British guitarist and composer who was a member of Genesis from 1971 to 1977, will perform in Portugal next year, organisers announced on Wednesday.
Hackett, 76, will present the concert "Best of Genesis & Solo Gems" on 30 October 2027 at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, followed the next day by a show at the Coliseu do Porto.
On stage, Hackett will be joined by Lalle Larsson on keyboards, Jonas Reingold on bass, guitar and vocals, Rob Townsend on saxophone, flutes, additional keyboards and vocals, Felix Lehrmann on drums, and Nad Sylvan on vocals.
The British progressive rock band Genesis played in Portugal in March 1975, at the Pavilhão do Dramático de Cascais.
In a statement, Hackett said he was very happy to be returning to Portugal, a country where he had always found so many dedicated Genesis fans, adding that he could hardly wait to see them again in October 2027.
Life after Genesis
Hackett is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.
In 1975, the year Genesis played in Portugal, Hackett released his solo album "Voyage of the Acolyte", the first in a series of solo works that continued from 1978 onwards.
In 1986, he teamed up with guitarist Steve Howe to form the group GTR, which had a hit with the song "When the Heart Rules the Mind". Hackett left the band the following year to concentrate on his solo career.
Other concerts announced in Lisbon
The announcement of Hackett's Portuguese dates came alongside news of other shows planned for Lisbon.
Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler is set to perform in Lisbon next year.
The oldest group of forcados outside Portugal is also due to appear in the capital.
Duran Duran are scheduled to play in Lisbon in November.
