Television presenter Ethel Pozo announced she has been removed from the hosting lineup for Teletón 2026 after América Televisión requested her exclusion.
Pozo said in a statement on her official Instagram account that the telethon management informed her of the network request, which barred her from hosting or appearing as an anchor. The removal comes despite her previous confirmation as a lead presenter for the event.

The presenter had already filmed an official promotional advertisement for the 2026 campaign alongside fellow television host Adolfo Aguilar several weeks ago, while both were involved in the show La granja VIP.
Pozo, who is the daughter of prominent television personality Gisela Valcárcel, recently left the morning show América hoy. América Televisión is one of the main commercial television networks in Peru, while Teletón is a major annual charity broadcast raising funds for children with disabilities.
Removal requested by network
According to Pozo, telethon organizers told her that América Televisión requested her removal due to friction with her former co-hosts on América hoy, specifically naming Janet Barboza and Edson Dávila, known as Giselo.
Pozo said management indicated the decision stemmed from comments she made about her former colleagues on her streaming show, Sin más que decir, as well as tensions from her final weeks on the morning program. She stated she was told her presence on the broadcast would cause discomfort among the current hosts of América hoy.
Response and pledge of support
Pozo said she respected the stance taken by her former television network, though she acknowledged that the decision caused her deep sadness.
Despite her removal from the main broadcast, Pozo stated that she holds no hard feelings and that her commitment and affection for the charity remain unchanged. She added that she remains ready to assist the cause and is just a phone call away if needed.
